Biography

Lianne Allan is a Senior Associate Solicitor in the Dispute Resolution and Commercial Litigation department at the award-winning firm, Myerson Solicitors.
Lianne has experience handling complex commercial litigation, acting for a variety of commercial and individual clients, with particular expertise in commercial agency claims (acting for both agents and principals), and in shareholder disputes involving unfair prejudice claims and derivative actions.
Notable cases Lianne has worked on include:
• Acting for a commercial agent in a significant cross-border claim under the Commercial Agents (Council Directive) Regulations 1993 against a large manufacturer, securing a substantial settlement at mediation.
• Representing a minority shareholder in a heavily disputed section 994 Petition under the Companies Act against the majority shareholder, ultimately negotiating a significant settlement in the client’s favour.
• Acting for a claimant in a complex professional negligence claim against a firm of accountants arising from their failure to advise appropriately in relation to the client’s pension fund and potential for tax savings.
• Conducting an arbitration of a heavily contested claim under the Commercial Agents (Council Directive) Regulations 1993 through International Chamber of Commerce. A settlement was ultimately secured for the client at mediation.
• Representing the respondent in a contested insolvency application concerning an outstanding debt in excess of £2 million.
• Acting for a football agent in a claim by his former employer for breach of post-termination restrictions, successfully avoiding a costly trial by securing a settlement at mediation to the client’s satisfaction.
• Successfully obtaining a freezing injunction to prevent the dissipation of estate assets, including property sale proceeds, where there was a risk of the respondent returning to the Philippines with the assets. Lianne ultimately secured a settlement in the client’s favour.
