Jenny Hutchinson

Biography

Jenny Hutchinson specialises in professional negligence claims against solicitors, brokers, estate agents, loss assessors, financial advisers and surveyors.

Jenny trained and qualified at a top London professional indemnity and insurance law firm and worked there for over a decade. During this time she worked as a professional liability claims handler in the firm’s claims department, spent nine months on secondment to a leading international insurance company in their professional claims team and defended a large number of professional negligence claims against a wide range of different professionals.

In 2018 Jenny used the knowledge she had gained in defending professional negligence claims to move to acting for claimants. She works as a Consultant Solicitor for Wynterhill LLP alongside other members of the Wynterhill professional negligence team. She has an invaluable insight into how the professional indemnity insurer will defend the claim and uses this to the advantage of her clients.

Jenny has experience in professional negligence (1) pre-action disputes, having brought and settled many claims under the Professional Negligence Pre-Action Protocol; (2) Alternative Dispute Resolution, having settled cases at mediation and arbitration to avoid the formal court process and (3) the formal court process having litigated many disputes with a good procedural knowledge of the court system.

In recent years Jenny has represented clients in group litigation in respect of professional negligence claims against their conveyancer, arising from advice given in their purchase of an alleged investment in fractional sales property units.
