Biography

I am a Chartered Building Surveyor in private practice. I co-founded Jones Melling Limited in April 2009 with Ken Jones BSc (Hons) MRICS MFPWS.

I am a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Faculty of Party Wall Surveyors, Expert of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL), Expert of the Professional Negligence Lawyers Association (PNLA) and Affiliate Member of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation. I have an Honours Degree in Building Surveying from Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh, and a P402 Certificate in Bulk Sampling and Analysis (Asbestos) from the BOHS.

My background is in the provision of typical Building Surveying and Contract Administration Services nationally and in Europe across the residential, commercial, ecclesiastical, leisure, healthcare, education and industrial sectors, all of which have included construction, defect, disabled adaptation review, conservation, design and associated advice.

I have attended courses on Building Regulations, Contract Administration, Defect Analysis, Construction Methods, Conservation of Historic Buildings, Disabled Access, Designing for the Disabled, The Construction Design and Management Regulations, Party Wall, etc. Act 1996, as well as other relevant training courses. I have studied for and passed The Fire Protection Association’s Fire Risk Assessment Course, the BOHS P402 Certificate for Building Surveys and Bulk Sampling of Asbestos and also studied for and received a NEBOSH Certificate. I maintain my professional status by following the RICS provisions for Continual Professional Development (CPD).

I have been and do currently provide Expert Witness reports in the United Kingdom on a number of matters such as Building Construction, Building Materials,
